Cayman over the next week plays host to the Caribbean Junior Squash Championships.

The tournament opens serve 16 July with individual matches played through 18 July and a team competition beginning early next week.

National squash coach Mark Chaloner appeared on this week’s episode of Let’s Talk Sports and said one of Cayman’s standout players is the favourite to win the tournament’s under-19 men’s division.

“Julian Jervis has been pushing himself around and winning Caribbean titles for the last few years,” Chaloner said. “Last year was his first year in the under-19 event and he lost in the final. This year he’ll be seeded number one. All the pressure’s on him, mind you, which is probably good for him. But, yeah, he’s playing good squash.”
