Kids get bikes

Top student athletes at Sir Jonh A. Cumber primary schools all received brand new bicycles last week. For the last decade Floyd Bush has given six lucky year six students bikes. He says over the years others have seen the values of the programme and have started to pitch in with the costs.

He told Cayman 27, “The old scholars that left John A Cumber, I check with them each ending of the year and I get the donations to buy the bicycles back for these that leaving, so I’m happy with that.”

But the people who really understand the difference a bicycle can make to a child are the children themselves. Umar Gordan, who is one of the recipients, says winning the bicycle is worth all the hard work on and off the field.

“I had to work hard and do sports, not just doing sports, you have to do work in class and you have to behave yourself,” said Gordon.

Below is a full list of the recipients:

Brianna Smith
Stoyanna Stewart
Nassaria Whittaker
Karlisha Rose
Stephen Watson
