Two new national records are believed to have been set in swimming for Cayman.
The first was set on Thursday in the Bahamas at the Caribbean Islands Swimming Championships (CISC). Corey Frederick-Westerbrog finished 6th in the Boys 11 to 12 200M Freestyle. While he didn’t medal his time of 2:17.14 is believed to be a new national record, however it needs to be confirmed. Cayman 27 understand the previous record was held by Olympian Shaune Fraser.
The second record was set by Lara Butler. Bulter swam the 50M backstroke in a time of 30.42 seconds. Her time is believed to be a new Cayman National/CIASA record for the event. She was swimming in the Scottish National Championships in Glasgow. Despite her impressive performance she finished 9th.
Cayman 27 reached out to the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee to have the time verified, no reply was received.
