Some people living in the Northward area have voiced concerns about frequent power outages in certain parts of the area within the last couple of weeks.

The Caribbean Utilities Company (CUC) said the Northward area and sections moving west to Lower Valley experienced a total of seven power losses this year with
five of those happening in the month of June.

CUC said the outages were caused by a communications error of a new unit. Northward resident Corey-Dane Ebanks said the power cuts lasted almost couple of hours on some occasions while Sylvia German-Symith said the outages could have caused damages to home appliances.

“When me and my mommy was home it went out say 10 something and it never came back until 11:40 something so I was like ‘yow’ then it started to get hot inside the house and stuff,” Mr. Ebanks said.

Until the issue is resolved, CUC said it will run two new units at lower loads to reduce the need for any back-up.
