Public health: travel vaccines require advance booking

If you’re traveling overseas to a destination that requires travel vaccines, your best bet is to book appointments well in advance.

Public health officials are advising travelers, especially to destinations where yellow fever outbreaks are occurring, to get in touch with the travel health clinic six to eight weeks before their trip.

Public health told Cayman 27 vaccines are not effective if given just before travel.

An insect repellant with DEET, long-sleeved clothing, and mosquito nets are advised to help prevent other, non-vaccine-preventable mosquito borne illnesses like Zika, chikungunya, and dengue.
