The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation says its members are horrified over what it’s calling the heinous and senseless assault of two ponies at the Equestrian Centre.
One of the ponies had to be put down as a result of its injuries.
The CIEF made the statements through a press release, adding the association doesn’t believe the current maximum jail sentence of five years for a killing an animal is insufficient.
The statement reads in part:
“We are horrified at this act of alarming violence, which was a senseless act on two ponies who had a reputation of being the most gentlest of animals, especially with children.“These ponies were in their homes, on private property, and someone entered the property and violently assaulted them.“With today’s social media, we believe that someone out there knows something about this heinous crime.”
