Hundreds of Haitian children are born every year with life-threatening heart problems, the majority of those will never get the treatment they need.

Have A Heart Cayman and Health City Cayman Islands have partnered with the Haiti Cardiac Alliance to get some young Haitian heart patients the life-changing surgeries they need, right here in the Cayman Islands.

The Haiti Cardiac Alliance told Cayman 27 children returning after surgery are changed forever.

“It’s beautiful, it’s beautiful when kids go away to the Cayman Islands for surgery, and when they come back, they went to the Cayman Islands with a problem,” said Haiti cardiac Alliance’s Kessy Acceme.  “They come back here [to Haiti] happy. The parents are happy when the kids come back, they can do whatever they want to do, they run, they go to school, but before the surgery, they couldn’t do it.”

Last weekend, three little boys and a teenage girl returned to Haiti after their surgeries. Three more patients were transported to Health City to await treatment for their heart ailments.
