Jamaica’s Alia Atkinson — arguably the Caribbean’s strongest swimmer at the Olympic Games — is through to Monday’s (8 August) final of the women’s 100-metre breaststroke.

Atkinson swam the sixth-fastest semifinal time, finishing in 1-minute, 6.52 seconds. That’s good enough for fourth in the second semifinal race.
