Driving around town, you will soon see the next batch of billboards filled with the faces of young high achievers in Cayman.
The twelve most recent honorees, aged 10 to 25, were announced this week as part of the now infamous “Proud of Them” programme.
It’s a youth recognition initiative to highlight achievements in academics, sports, jobs, culture and business or community service.
Since 2012, more than 60 young men and women in the Cayman Islands have been showcased.
“In this day and age of negativity and constant bashing of the youth, I think an initiative such as proud of them in its fourth year now, I think its very very important, it has stood the test of time , the billboards are very popular around island,” said Hon. Osbourne Bodden, Minister of Community Affairs, Youth & Sports.
“It’s actually showing me that even though I don’t think that people are watching, they are seeing what I do, they are appreciating it so I feel honored to be apart of this,” Said Local musician, Bruce Gordon

The most recent recipients are Diarra Hoyte, Giselle Ebanks, Derricka Neysmith, Tishan Crowe, Channah Conner, Ayanna Davis-Eden, Bruce Gordon, Ethan Whittaker, Felicia Connor and Kasinda McField.
