The RCIPS Monday (20 September) rescued four Honduran nationals stranded at sea.
The police helicopter and Joint Marine Unit found the men about 30 miles southeast of Grand Cayman in good health.
The search began when the International Emergency Response Coordination Center relayed to the 911 centre they received an SOS from the boat.
Once spotted by police, it was discovered the satellite phone and VHF radio were not operating and their locator beacon was their only means of communication.
The men on board left Honduras Saturday (17 September) but suffered engine failure. The crew and boat were taken to Grand Cayman.
Police are urging boaters to equip themselves with as many means of communication as possible.
