Now that the Legal Practitioners Bill has been published, George Town MLA Winston Connolly says having seen it, he cannot support the legislation.

In fact, he contends the bill lacks the teeth needed to ensure Caymanian attorneys are given opportunities for equity partnerships at local law firms.

Mr Connolly, who contributed to the development of the bill during his tenure on the Government backbench, made the point while speaking on Cayman 27’s the Big Story on Monday night (12 September).

He said the recommendations he made for the bill were not incorporated as he had suggested and therefore he could not vote with the Government to pass the bill in its current form.
