Local pastor Alson Ebanks is calling for a Government ministry focused on male related issues, since he believes more should be done for men in the country to combat the issues of sexual assault, drugs and other crime.
He is basing his call for the male specific Ministry as he contends issues impacting Cayman’s men need to be addressed as more men are behind bars than women.
The Reverend said it is clear there is a problem affecting men, however no departments or ministries are in place to address their needs.
“When you look at the share number of inmates in our male prison in Northward and you compare that to the number of women or girls in the women’s prison you would conclude that we have a serious issue affecting men but is there a single Department or a single Ministry focusing on the needs of men,” Rev Ebanks said.
Cayman 27 reached out to the Ministry of Gender Affairs for comment and a response is expected shortly.
