At the recruitment drive for young Caymanians looking to join the Prison Service, Fire or Immigration one of the highlights was the riot gear suit worn by members of Her Majesty’s Prison Service should inmates become violent.

The riot gear is only worn within the confines of the prison, while one supervisor at the prison pulled on the suit and strapped up his boots to give potential prospects a demonstration on the make-up of the gear and why it’s used.

“Going in for an extraction or for a riot situation it’s our fully kitted suit we use shin guards, arm guards, water pouch on our back and steel toe boots also with the suit,” Mr. Daley said.

Mr. Daley added people at the recruitment drive were really impressed with the suit especially since a lot of people aren’t aware of what prison officers endure on a daily basis.
