The 2016 US Open has a new number one, Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss champion rose to the occasion once again after a grueling four-hour, four set to beat defending champion Novak Djokovic and win the US Open on Sunday for the third Grand Slam title of his career.

Wawrinka, a perfect three-for-three in Grand Slam finals, Australia 2014 and French 2015 became the oldest winner of the last major of the year since Australian Ken Rosewall in 1970.

Wawrinka is only missing a Wimbledon victory to complete the coveted career Grand Slam.
