Before you get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the festive season, the blood bank is reminding all donors to come in and give.

The blood bank told Cayman 27 while there are no blood shortages at the moment, the need for blood is a constant at the hospital.

Medical technologist Greg Honeyghan said donors play a major role in saving lives.

“[The blood bank] play[s] a very important role, perhaps even the most important role in the hospital,” said Mr. Honeyghan. “We can’t do it alone. We can’t manufacture blood, well, not for now, so we have to depend on citizens, ordinary citizens here in Cayman to assist us.”

At last week’s health care conference, the blood bank signed up 50 new donors.
