Government mulls Haiti aid plans

The numbers have become even more heartbreaking out of Haiti…with a death toll from Hurricane Matthew surpassing 800 on Friday.
Items, designed to be shipped to people in need there, are being donated locally.
And the Cayman Islands Government is also looking into ways it can provide assistance through the delivery of aid, if not necessarily financial help.

“We have already been approached about is the use of Cayman Airways in terms of transporting goods and supplies and indeed services there is consideration of doctors from Health City going down to help,” the Premier said.

Mr McLaughlin would not rule out direct financial aid to Haiti, similar to what was done after a recent disaster in Dominica, but he said it was too soon to make that sort of commitment just yet.
