It’s official Donald Trump will be America’s 45th president.

The businessman clinched victory over Hillary Clinton in a nail-biting finale on Tuesday night (November 8)
One that had most around the world on the edge of their seats. Mr Trump’s victory  brings an end to what can easily be described as one of the most controversial US election campaigns in modern history.
There were some touch and go moments when it looked like Hillary Clinton appeared to take the lead in the race to the oval office, but as the night wore on it became increasingly obvious Mr. Trump was going to be the clear winner.
Russian president Vladimir Putin headed up the list of world leaders congratulating Mr. Trump on his victory. Premier Hon. Alden McLaughlin also extended congratulations to Mr. Trump and the Republican party.
He said, in a brief statement, “We will watch with interest as Mr. Trump organizes his cabinet and sets his policies as well as his agenda for the next four years.”
He added he looks forward to a positive working relationship with the new US administration.
Cayman Finance CEO Jude Scott also extended congratulations. Mr Scott, in a brief comment to Cayman 27, said, “Cayman Finance looks forward to partnering with our government to initiate proactive and positive dialogue with the new administration that can serve to inform of the benefits that the Cayman Islands efficiently provides to citizens, businesses and the US economy.”
