One local athletics coach was set to appear in a Miami court yesterday for a hearing that will decide whether he will be extradited to Cayman to face charges.

The 37-year-old man fled Cayman earlier this year after being accused of indecently assaulting a minor. Cayman 27 is not naming him in order to protect the victim.

Department of Public Prosecutions’ Patrick Moran says his department has no update on the matter.

The coach was charged in Cayman on June 24 with two counts of indecent assault, one charge of gross indecency and one charge of misuse of an information and communications technology authority network in after its alleged he sexually assaulted an athlete that he coached.
