British tennis player Andy Murray is only one win away from snatching the world number one ranking. Novak Djokovic crashed out of the Paris Masters in straight sets opening the door for Murray to end the Serb’s two-year hold at the top.
Djokovic was chasing a fifth title in Paris and was beaten in two sets. His defeat means Murray needs to win his next match in the French capital to end Djokovic’s reign at the top, that stretches back to July 2014.
Djokovic needed to reach the final to guarantee keeping Murray at bay.
Second seed Murray beat Czech Tomas Berdych 7-6 (11-9) 7-5 and will play Canadian Milos Raonic in Saturday’s semi-final.
