Unemployment is a tough time for anyone, but especially if you’re a single parent.

At Wednesday’s nice job fair, roughly a dozen people looking to register brought their children with them.
Single mother Cindi welcome was one of them and says she was forced to bring her child as she can’t afford child care, highlighting the importance of the seasonal employment programme.

“I felt really bad bringing my child in today, but, hey, this is what we are facing, we are struggling, it’s not like I can leave him anywhere and come to the programme, I need a job, I need someone to care for him,” said Cindi Welcome.

More than 250 people in all showed up to register for this year’s government-sponsored programme.
