Beach rock removal discussed

Dart Real Estate has executed its plan to remove beach rock from a potential future site of a 5-star resort development.

The trial coastal works license, granted by cabinet in November, is limited to a 1600 square foot area of beach north of Tiki beach. Dart told Cayman 27 the results will inform a future coastal works application to remove beach rock from a much larger stretch of the same beach.

Cayman 27’s Joe Avary, who first broke the story of Dart’s coastal works application back in March, joined Cayman 27’s Janelle Muttoo to discuss Wednesday’s extraction.
