C.I.S win the RBC International Primary Sailing Championships

Seven primary schools around the Island met at the Cayman Islands Sailing Club for the RBC International Primary Sailing Championships.

It was a thrilling finish, so close that the two top teams were tied on points. At the end of the 12 races Cayman International School won the last race wining the overall regatta. Cayman International School was in first with 16 points; Montessori By the Sea, 16 points; Cayman Prep School, 21 points; St. Ignatius Prep, 33 points; Hope Academy, 37 points; Red Bay Primary, 43 points; and Prospect Primary, 44 points.

Cayman’s sailors, Andres McDermot and Allena Rankine will be heading off to New Zealand on the Saturday to compete in this years Youth Sailing World Championship, which will run from December 14 to 20.

Jade was one of 35 Young Reporters selected worldwide to be apart of the Young Reporters Programme by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Second Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China. She was awarded the 'Best IOC Young Reporter', and went on to cover the Second Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lilehammer, Norway. Jade was also selected as a Young Reporter in 2015 to cover the Toronto Pan American Games, where she was awarded a Hockey Stick for her hard-work and dedication. Jade was the Press Officer for the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. She graduated with honors in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida
