15 students from Cayman International School headed to Chicago international model united nations conference.
Schools from around the world will be placed into different UN committees to challenge simulated real-time crises. Student Marika Scotland said the experience prepares her and others to examine international affairs and politics.
“Well there is different topics for each committee so you have the general assembly I’m on the international Court of Justice and for us we’re looking at two court cases the Cameroon vs. Nigeria and the maritime order and the Bosnian genocide,” Ms. Scotland said.
Ms. Scotland said having a hands on experience with foreign relations at the UN conference will allow for her and other students to learn more about the politics of Cayman.
