McDermot and Rankine arrive in New Zealand for Youth Sailing World Championships

Two of Cayman’s junior sailors have arrived in New Zealand for the 2016 AON Youth Sailing World Championships.

Andres McDermot and Allena Rankine , accompanied by their Coach Raphel Harvey will compete in the laser radial, which is said to see the most countries and possibly the most diverse experience levels of all fleets taking part.

The regatta will see first time international racers, youth Olympians and senior level Olympians.

The Championships will begin tomorrow (December 14) and run through December 20.

Rankine and McDermott will be among more than 380 sailors from 66 nations sailing in more than 260 boats across nine disciplines.

She graduated with honors in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida
