Walton named to track and field All American Team

One of Cayman’s track athletes continues to make headlines on the international stage. Jamal Walton, Cayman’s 400-metre record holder was named to the track and field All American team for the 400 meters following his spring season.

Walton, the 2016 was also a season of success: 3rd in the 200m at AAU Nationals, 5th in the 400m semis at the IAAF World U20 Championships and second in the event at New Balance Outdoor Nationals and the 4A state track meet.

Although Walton struggled with a hamstring issue earlier this year he is looking for the upcoming season to be injury-free as he continues to get back into top shape.

His current 400m person record is 45.99, which was set as a freshman at the IAAF World Youth Championships his goal is to surpass that in 2017.

Jade was also selected as a Young Reporter in 2015 to cover the Toronto Pan American Games, where she was awarded a Hockey Stick for her hard-work and dedication. Jade was the Press Officer for the Cayman Islands Olympic Committee at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. She graduated with honors in Broadcast Journalism from the University of South Florida
