Woman warded after crash; Nearly 1,700 lost power

[22 May update]: A car crash Monday (21 May) closed North West Point Road to traffic for several hours but the road is now reopen.

A woman driving the car involved was admitted to a surgical ward following the collision. Police describe her injuries as serious but non-life threatening.

According to police, just before 6:30 p.m. a single vehicle collided with a light pole, causing the line to come down. Cayman 27 crews in the area spotted a white car that appears to have smashed through a residential wall near Rennie Ebanks Road.

The roadway was partially blocked off for the safety of motorists as the lines were live, according to police.

CUC said Tuesday (22 May) more than 1,700 customers lost power as a result of the crash. Power was restored to some within the hour while others were without electricity until about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday (22 May). .

Police had North West Point Road blocked to traffic in both directions and were advising motorists to turn around.
