Today (31 May) is World No Tobacco Day and Public Health says this year’s theme is focusing on tobacco as a leading cause of heart and cardiovascular diseases.
In a statement, Health Minister Hon. Dwayne Seymour said cardiovascular diseases kill more people than any other cause of death worldwide and Public Health officials are encouraging those with the habit to kick it.
“Good thing about this situation is that it’s a choice, so you can either do you don’t. Obviously, from our perspective at Public Health we prefer that you would arm yourself with the information and take action,” said Therese Prehay from Public Health.
Minister Seymour says he wants to make every day World No Tobacco Friday.
