Cayman Water’s ‘This Week in Little League’

Here is your look at week ten of the Cayman Islands Little League:

Girls Softball

Kirk Freeport 15 GCM 6

Kirk Freeport’s hot offense scored in every inning to defeat GCM 15-6. Shay Windsor and Abi Powell led the Kirk Freeport attack, each hitting an inside-the-park homer and a combined six runs on the day. Ariyana Ebanks and Ashley Thompson scored twice each for the victors, while Reyah Stewart had a nice hit, scoring one. Pitcher Deandra Bush allowed just two early runs to GCM, retire five of the final six batters in her two innings of good work. Newcomers Kenia and Aydes Rostran helped Kirk Freeport combined to reach base three times while providing good defense in the outfield. GCM’s Clara Ramos and Hannah Gibson each scored two runs on the night, while Akela Ebanks smacked an RBI double. Pitcher Thai Merren struck out the side in the second inning. The defense struggled however committing 5 errors, leading to several unearned runs for Kirk Freeport.

GCM 3 Coldwell Banker 3

Coldwell Banker and GCM finished in a 3-3 tie as a heavy downpour struck at the beginning of the fourth inning, ending the contest.
Neither team scored in the first two innings as pitchers Thai Merren (GCM) and Deandra Whiteman (Coldwell Banker) were in fine form, backed up by excellent defense. In the top of the third, Coldwell Banker scored three consecutive runs, getting key hits coming from Deandra and Jialy Archbold-McLaughlin. In the bottom of the third, GCM bounced back with Clara Ramos, Thai Merren and Akeyla Ebanks all scoring to tie the game 3-3. In the fourth, the game was called. Coldwell Banker takes on Kirk Freeport in back-to-back games this Wednesday and Thursday in a late season battle for first place in the standings.

Pony Division
Greenlight RE 15 Deloitte 12
Greenlight finishes the season undefeated. Ruhani Rana went 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored in the win for Greenlight, while Elvis Ebanks was 4 for 4 with 4 runs scored in the loss for Deloitte.
SMP Partners 9 Maples 5
Jhyzr Moore, Kaiden Matute, and Jon-Marc Thomas were all 2 for 2 with 2 runs cored for SMP, while Dylan Ruwende and DJ Cranston were both 2 for 2 in the loss for Maples.
Cayman Water 17 Saxon 13
Cayman Water’s Logan Pollard was 3 for 3 with 2 HRs including a grand slam and 6 RBIs. Russell Massias was 2 for 2 with a HR and 3 RBIs, while Dylan McGriele was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. For Saxon, Kylie Freehand was 2 for 3 with a HR and 2 RBIs. Peyton Pinedo was 3 for 3 with an RBI, while Rogan O’Connell was 2 for with a grand slam and 5 RBIs. Saxon’s Michael Souza was 2 for 3 with his first home run of the season and 3 RBIs.

Digicel 15 Encompass 8
Digicel’s Toby Johns had 1 home run in the win
Digicel 10 Logic 0
Digicel’s Chad Murphy pitched a one-hitter with 18 strikeouts
