The sweet sounds of Cayman’s very own Swanky Kitchen Band resonated at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London today (14 May.)
It was the launch of celebrations commemorating the diamond jubilee of Cayman’s Coat of Arms.
The Coat of Arms is Cayman’s first national symbol and draws on elements that are truly Caymanian in nature from our thatch work to our strong Christian roots.
Today Cayman hosted a special reception in London to mark the occasion.
“It is a good time for the Cayman Islands to be able to share and show the UK all the things that are important to us. The Cayman Islands are more than just a financial district or a tourist destination. We are a country that is full of heart and soul and we are proud of our heritage,” said Alfonso Wright, executive chairman Celebrate Cayman.
A number of UK officials attended the event like Alex Stuart Aiken, executive director for UK Government communications who tweeted a photo from the event. He said it was an enjoyable and informative reception.
