Cayman’s new emergency response equipment arrives

The Department of Public Safety Communications today (18 May) announced the arrival of Cayman’s new 911 emergency communications equipment.

The new equipment includes radios with GPS tracking capabilities to send SMS to radios, as well as, being able to sync with Bluetooth devices and body cameras, features the 2003 system did not offer.
The Department has already started the implementation process meeting with EMS and uniformed services on deployment and training to use the new equipment.
They said the next step in the process is to install the equipment in the Government Administration Building and 9 other sites in the Cayman Islands.

Those works are expected to begin in the coming weeks and will take about 6 months to complete.
