Joint Immigration crackdown nets 7 offenders

Seven offenders, including a wanted person, are arrested in joint Immigration, Labour and Police operations over the last two weeks.
According to an Immigration Department statement today (17 May) the crackdown started 30 April with an operation on West Bay Road.
One person was arrested there for three offences. Since then spot checks on 30 people were carried out; including workers at two construction sites in South Sound and the Seven-Mile Beach areas.
Operations were also executed in the Prospect area.
One person was held for working without a permit, breach of bail and overstaying on 30 April.
On 2 May they arrested a Jamaican national wanted for overstaying and working without a permit, that person was also a burglary suspect.
Last Thursday (10 May) they cracked down on two job sites and arrested three people on suspicion of working outside of their permit, and one for working while on a visitor’s extension.
A seventh person was held Saturday on Eastern Avenue for overstaying since October.
