Rivers defends local financial services industry at EU forum

While Cayman continues to battle one attack on our local financial services industry Minister Hon. Tara Rivers is in Brussels battling another, the European Union’s blacklist.
The Financial Services Minister addressed seminars at the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels yesterday (23 May) sharing the stage with European parliament and Organisation for Economic Development and Cooperation officials.
She tackled the issue of the European Union’s blacklist of Non-Cooperative jurisdictions.
She told participants, “There are no shell companies, no bearer shares, and no numbered accounts. And given the high level of tax transparency which has existed for many years now, the notion that somehow Cayman is a place to hide money is incorrect.”
