US tourist Nadine Thomas says she cannot thank the Cayman Islands enough for returning her handbag that was found in the back of a local taxi earlier this month.
Mrs. Thomas said she and her husband Bill were on a cruise that had its last stop in Grand Cayman.
During their visit, she said, they forgot the bag in the taxi. The Connecticut residents looked for the taxi, but had no luck finding it.
Mrs. Thomas said she was optimistic that the bag would be returned to them.
“I think it really restored a lot of people’s faith in humanity, you know, that they are so honest with people out there and certainly it was a wonderful end to a stressful experience,” said Mrs. Thomas.
She said when they reported the passports missing the R.C.I.P.S. liaised with the cruise ship and US Customs to let them return home. Taxi driver operator Romellia Welcome found the bag and worked together with police and FedEx to get it back to the couple.
