D.C. United wins Under-15 Youth Football Cup in memorable 2-1 final over Cuba

Major League Soccer’s D.C. United finished undefeated to claim the 2018 Cayman Islands Invitational Under-15 Youth Football Cup title Saturday (2 June) with a 2-1 over defending champions Cuba.

In the 57th minute, Cuba’s Alexander Mendoza scored a remarkable goal off a corner while falling to the ground to give his country the lead 1-0. United’s Jeremy Garay converted to tie the game 1-1. In the 83rd minute, Jacob Greene scored the deciding goal to give United the victory 2-1.

United’s Jonathan Valladares won Tournament MVP scoring two goals.

Jamaica’s Portmore United took 3rd place with a 3-1 win over Harbour View F.C. Portmore’s Iyare Harris scored three goals, giving him five for the tournament and the Golden Boot.
