Justice Justice Carlisle Greaves declares the court is not run by lawyers as he adjourned the trial of Marvin Grant, Fred McLaughlin and Al McLaughlin. They are accused of stealing cocaine that washed ashore in East End last Christmas.
He said the court is run by judges and the diary of the court should not be made at the convenience of lawyers, but rather the lawyer’s calendars should be made at the convenience of the courts. He made the statement as he moved the court date for the men. He said their trial should’ve started in July, but it was delayed because of conflicting times with the defense counsels.
They all pleaded not guilty. The trial will begin the first week in October and run for two weeks. The three men remain in custody.
