Breaking: Man killed in North Side crash

One man has been killed in a single vehicle collision in North Side on Thursday (4 October.)

Details are limited at the moment, but the RCIPS has confirmed the fatality.

Police have declined to release the victim’s identity, but Cayman 27 understands the man is an East End resident and was the lone occupant in the vehicle.

According to an RCIPS statement the collision occurred around 8:45 p.m. on North Side Road near the intersection of Frank Sound Road in North Side.

Police say a silver Mercedes Benz had run off the road and collided with a tree; the front section of the car was aflame.

Fire officers arrived and put out the car fire. The driver was removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

The easterly lane of North Side Road is currently blocked by police. They say it is expected to remain blocked throughout most of the night as a traffic investigation is conducted.
