BT quarry fire: Fire Services stick to assessment

The Fire Service is sticking to its initial assessment that smoke from a nearby quarry fire posed no risk to Lake Destiny, Bodden Town, residents.

This despite concerns raised by residents.
According to a Fire Service statement, on Thursday (25 October) when the fire was first reported on 25 September fire officers found no sign of smoke during extensive checks of the nearest residential area, 1450 feet away. They said regular checks were made thereafter to assess the impact of any smoke.

The smoke was finally doused last week.
The Fire Service said the Department of Environmental Health has reached out to a member of the Bodden Town community who complained to them about the fire.
