Cricket: National T20 training camp opens with optimism

A 33-man squad will vie for 18 spots over the next 10 months as Cayman Cricket is set to open the 2018/29 National T20 training camp ahead of May’s World Twenty20 qualifier.

Grouped with Bermuda, the United States and Canada, Technical Director Peter Anderson says he’s confident Cayman can finish in one of the top two and gain qualification to the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Twenty20.

“I think it’s a wonderful opportunity, and I think our boys can do it. I have no issues, if we bring our best cricket to the table. I’ve watched Canad and USA recently, I’ve done some coaching with USA. I’ll focus on what our guys can do, and if we bring our best game to the park, there will be a few upsets.”

Anderson will chair the selection committee that includes former Cayman Islands national cricketer Pearson Best, as well as Ian Goodall and Ezrah Hewitt.
