Manderson on a Caymanian governor

Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson term as acting Governor has come to an end, but many members of the public said they wanted to see him become Cayman Islands first governor after Governor Anwar Choudhury was removed. Mr. Manderson said having a Caymanian as Governor is not the best idea.

“I made various decisions that were hopefully in the best interest of both territories, but thinking about some of the issues that the Governor has to promote on behalf of the UK equal rights for everyone, those are very topical issues that are probably best dealt with by someone who is here for a short time and leave,” said Mr. Manderson.

Mr. Manderson also added that he believes he was the longest acting Caymanian Governor in the island’s history, but that has not been confirmed.
