Walk For The Cure 5K draws hundreds

Over four hundred people turned out at the Seven-Mile public beach over the weekend for the Walk For The Cure 5k. The walk/run is aimed at supporting the fight against cancer and organizer Shadden McLaughlin said she’s grateful to all the people who showed up at the event, saying it will go a long way in helping many in our community.

“Just in the last 48 hours we’ve actually had a 125 people registered at the last minute, I guess people were uncertain of the weather, but it’s so important because all of these proceeds benefit the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and it all stays on the Islands to help with cancer patients and their families in need,” said Ms. McLaughlin.

The event raised $60, 000 US and Walk For The Cure will continue to raise funds throughout the month of October.
