Another invasive lizard species turns up in Grand Cayman

A second invasive lizard species has turned up on Grand Cayman.

The Department of Environment said a knight anole was discovered last week in Lower Valley.

It looks a lot like the invasive green iguanas that have become ubiquitous in Grand Cayman, but the DOE said it doesn’t quite as big – adults grow to about 12 to 20 inches.

The DOE took possession of the animal for euthanisation. The species has been seen on Grand Cayman previously but is not believed to be here in large numbers.
