Cayman mourns passing of local music legend

Cayman’s music scene mourned the loss on Thursday (15 November) of local legend David “Jonathan” Ebanks, who passed away on Wednesday (14 November) night.

Mr. Ebanks was a guitarist. He was a member of the “Memory of Justice” band and “Swanky Kitchen” band.

The President of the Cayman Music and Entertainment Association Jean Eric Smith paid tribute to Mr. Ebanks’ vast contribution to Cayman’s music landscape:

“It’s priceless, it’s immeasurable, a very vast and substantial contribution to our music and our culture,” Mr. Smith sighed.

He explained: “Jonathan is one of the best guitar players in the Caribbean and we were very proud to have him part of our local music community.”

Mr. Smith said there will be a tribute event called “A Night with the Legends,” to honour the memory of the three local music icons who have passed away this year.
