Deputy Auditor General says early days in Finance Ministry role as PAC reports coordinator

The Deputy Auditor General said on Tuesday (6 November) that it was too early to say how much of a difference it will make having the Ministry of Finance coordinating responses from across Government to Public Accounts Committee reports.

Garnet Harrison said the Ministry’s involvement was a “step in the right direction.”

“The Finance Ministry has been given responsibility for coordinating all the entities’ responses to the PAC reports,” Mr. Harrison said.

He added: “so they’re taking from every Ministry, Department, Organisation and coordinating and providing that in a Government minute back to the Public Accounts Committee.”

Mr. Harrison explained many of their reports concern more than one Ministry and this would help with cross-ministry coordination “for the greater good.”
