No date set for next National Conservation Council meeting

The National Conservation Council has yet to set a date for its next meeting, and hasn’t convened for almost five months.

The conservation council postpopned its scheduled September 18th meeting without citing a reason.

A trio of new members were appointed to the council in August, but other vacancies remain, including the role of chair, as MacFarlane Connolly’s temporary appointment as chair expired in September.

Council secretary John Bothwell offered some insight to the situation.

“Nominations to the currently vacant national conservation council board seats have been made and are going through the process for final cabinet approval,” said Mr. Bothwell.

Environment Minister Dwayne Seymour told Cayman 27 the ministry was awaiting confirmation from one member, adding he expects the nominations to be re-delivered to cabinet next week Tuesday.
