Recycling programme earns accolades at Chamber business awards

A long running recycling programme earned recognition as this year’s Chamber of Commerce community impact award winner.

Yello Media Group’s Yello 2 Green recycling programme was featured on Cayman 27 news back in March.

Since 2010, Yello 2 Green has actively been collecting used phone directories and shipping them overseas for recycling.

“We take all of the directories that we collect every year, and turn them into insulating material,” explained Yello Media Group Content Feature Writer Maia Muttoo. “We send them off to Tampa and they are turned into home insulation, so it is really cool because now we have a print product that is a little bit more responsible, because we turn it into recycled material.”

In 2018 Yello Media Group had 23 collection stations across Cayman.

In eight years of Yello 2 Green, Yello Media Group said more than 200,000 phone books have been transformed into insulation for more than 200 homes.
