Romaine lettuce pulled from shelves

Fosters Food Fair supermarket has pulled all Romaine lettuce from its shelves in the wake of an alert from the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

This after the E-Coli bacteria was found in products in the US. The dangerous bacteria has spread throughout the United States.

It causes abdominal cramps, diarrhea and has even lead to deaths.

The CDC has advised retailers and restaurants not to serve or sell any Romaine lettuce.

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) has also issued a statement on the heels of the alert saying, “Environmental health officers have made contact with all wholesalers and local supermarkets, throughout the Cayman Islands, to ensure the removal of all affected products from their shelves.”

Cayman 27 reached out to Fosters for more on the recall, we are awaiting their response.
