1 a.m. update: 2017 is the year of the independent.
Nine independent candidates won seats in the Legislative Assembly, highlighting Wednesday’s 2017 Cayman Islands General Elections.
Seven Progressives candidates won seats in the L.A. while three Cayman Democratic Party members earned seats.
Thirteen incumbents and six newcomers were voted in.
