The Cayman Islands Netball Association held its first Junior Club sign up day on Saturday 17 September. The Netball Association has eight new coaches and venues for their new clubs, now they just need groups of netball enthusiasts. The Association is hoping to decentralize the clubs and offer netball to all districts.
The day saw the Turtle Netters, primary school and high school students who are keen to add netball to their activities.
Andrea Singh, Turtle Netters coach says, “We build the foundation so they can start participate in Junior Championships, Club Championships and eventually they can represent Cayman in the world Championships. These children are full of energy and it’s just something they can do, and it’s not just about netball its about building a foundation throughout life with netball.”
With limited transportation to and from Truman Bodden Sports Complex, the Association is giving students the opportunity to play for clubs in their neighborhoods.
Clubs will be available in Bodden Town, Savannah, four in George Town and West Bay.
