Cayman Islands Netball Technical Director Violet Murray-Corbin says she plans to improve the state of the sport by focusing on the grassroots level.

Appearing on the 28 April episode of Let’s Talk Sports, Murray-Corbin told Cayman 27’s Kevin Morales she wants to focus on the youth while still providing an avenue for them to move up the ranks.

“I really believe if you get the primary (school) girls going first, grabbing a hold of the secondaries, keeping them in the loop — keeping everybody in the loop — by the time, say this time next year, you can start working on the seniors,” Murray-Corbin said. “I could say under-17s, under-19s, under-21s before everybody goes completely nuts and, you know, ‘I’m a national player.’ We’ve got to get them through. If you don’t have a pathway, you’re always working on one set of girls and forgetting about the rest.”

Murray-Corbin arrived to Cayman as the new netball technical director in January.
