Collision victim Carl Farrell has died.
Cayman 27 understands Mr. Farrell passed away around 5:07 p.m. this evening (30 May). The 68-year-old man was described as a caring person.
Mr. Farrell was injured in a collision on Shamrock Road near his home on Monday (28 May). He was warded in the critical care unit at Cayman Islands Hospital since then.
Earlier today his family members issued a statement to Cayman 27 saying Mr. Farrell worked in tourism as an ambassador for the Cayman Islands.
They added he was “a kind and thoughtful person, who has always been devoted to his family and who served in tourism as an ambassador for our Islands – first as a long-time airline employee and then as a tour guide at Pedro St. James – originally built by his forebearers.”
“Mr. Farrell’s mother was an Eden by birth, and he grew up in Lower Valley with several extended family members living in the area, including his first cousin and National Hero, the late Hon. James M. Bodden Sr. Long-serving Savannah MLA Anthony Eden is also Mr. Farrell’s first cousin.”
Yesterday we incorrectly reported Mr. Farrell’s last name as Ferron, we apologize for that mistake.
